Mamdani Does the ONE Thing He Promised Not To - Now New Yorkers are Horrified

NEW YORK, NY — Those schooled in the ways of the free market know that socialism has never produced a functional, wealthy society. Now, the residents of New York City are learning that painful lesson firsthand. Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who campaigned on the lofty promise of making the city more "affordable" on the backs of the wealthy, just dropped a bombshell on the middle class.

Faced with a massive $127 billion budget—larger than the entire state of Florida's—Hizzoner is officially coming after the wallets of ordinary New Yorkers to fund his progressive agenda.

THE SOCIALIST BAIT-AND-SWITCH

Mamdani’s overarching campaign promise was simple: "Free" services, "social justice," and "community empowerment," all paid for by the ultra-rich. But as is always the case with communist and socialist rhetoric, someone actually has to foot the bill.

With the wealthy fleeing and state lawmakers balking at his extreme wealth tax demands, Mamdani has announced his "last resort" to balance the books:

  • A devastating 9.5% increase in property taxes.

  • Siphoning over $200 million from the Retiree Health Benefits Trust Fund.

"The mayor is complaining that the budget isn’t fully funded, so he has to raid pension funds and raise taxes," critics point out. "His true aim is income redistribution."

PUNISHING THE WORKING CLASS

While the Manhattan elite might not immediately notice the squeeze, this tax hike will devastate the working and middle classes. Over 30% of NYC residents actually own their homes, many of which have been passed down through generations in the outer boroughs.

If Mamdani's 9.5% hike goes through, working-class homeowners will be the ones paying for his socialist utopia.

"Mamdani’s portrayal as a 'man of the people' is, as is often the case with communists, a complete facade," the report notes. "Ultimately, it’s the middle and working classes who pay the price."

THE WEALTHY VOTE WITH THEIR FEET

During a recent panel on CNN, Abby Phillip attempted to cherry-pick data suggesting New York is gaining "semi-wealthy" residents. However, panelist Ana Navarro stated the undeniable truth: The super-rich—those with $25 to $100 million in assets—are moving out of the city.

This is the exact group Mamdani was relying on to fund his massive $127 billion agenda.

As capital is driven out, ordinary New Yorkers are about to see just how poorly things are managed under far-left leadership. Democrats may appeal to the lower classes looking for handouts, but the people who actually create wealth through hard work and investment understand the realities—and they are voting with their feet.

For the New Yorkers left behind, the bill has officially come due.
