Chapter 7 - The Eviction

Elena looked into Ethan's eyes, her own eyes brimming with tears as she gently rubbed Lily's back.
"I would never let anyone hurt her, Mr. Blackwood," Elena said softly.
Ethan slowly stood up, carrying Lily securely in his arms. The three-year-old clung to his neck, her breathing finally slowing into quiet, shuddering gasps.
He turned his gaze down to Victoria, who was still sitting on the floor, holding her swollen cheek.
"Get up," Ethan ordered.
"Ethan, please..." Victoria sobbed, reaching her hand out toward his trousers. "We've been together for six months... we're getting married in the spring..."
"There is no wedding," Ethan replied flatly. "There is no us. You have ten minutes to take your clothes and leave my property."
Victoria’s eyes widened in horror. "You're throwing me out?! Over a maid and a spoiled brat?!"
Ethan pulled his phone from his jacket pocket and tapped a speed-dial button.
"Marco," Ethan said into the speaker. "Bring two security officers up to the penthouse immediately. Escort Miss Montigue off the premises. If she hesitates, call the precinct and press charges for felony child endangerment."

"Ethan!" Victoria shrieked, pulling herself up from the floor, her silk dress stained with dust. "You can't do this! My father is your primary investor!"
"Your father can pull his capital tomorrow," Ethan said coldly. "I don't care about the money. Get out of my sight."
