Chapter 3 – Accountability

Within days, the homeowners association held an emergency meeting.
Residents filled every chair.
Many had received warning letters from Diana over the years.
None had imagined she would ever restrain a child.
The board president watched the security footage in complete silence.
When the lights came back on, he removed his glasses.
"Did you truly believe this was acceptable?"
Diana folded her arms.
"I enforced our standards."
"No," another board member replied.
"You abused your authority."
A unanimous vote followed.
Diana was immediately removed from her position.
The board adopted new policies requiring that no HOA volunteer ever physically detain or interfere with any resident.
Community disputes would be handled only through written notices and lawful procedures.
