Damian stared at the endless stream of notifications flooding his phone.
Account frozen.
Corporate authority revoked.
Board resolution approved unanimously.
Every message carved another piece away from the empire he had spent twenty years building.
"No..." he whispered. "There has to be a mistake."
"There isn't," Elena answered without looking back.
The conference room doors opened again. This time, federal financial investigators walked inside carrying sealed documents.
"Mr. Damian Cross?"
He couldn't answer.
"You are being formally notified that your companies are under investigation for financial fraud, insider trading, and illegal asset concealment."
Damian's knees nearly gave way.
He turned toward the board members who had praised him only hours earlier.
None of them met his eyes.
Instead, every one of them stood as Elena entered the room.
"Good morning, Chairwoman."
Not CEO.
Not investor.
Chairwoman.
The highest authority in the corporation.
Veronica rushed toward Elena.
"You tricked everyone!"
Elena calmly removed a thin envelope from her folder.
"No."
She handed it over.
"You signed this yourself."
Veronica unfolded the papers.
Her own signature stared back at her.
Months earlier, she had unknowingly accepted shares in one of Elena's holding companies as payment for a luxury endorsement deal.
Buried inside the contract was a clause transferring every personal investment she owned into a trust controlled by Voss Global.

Irrevocably.
"You manipulated me..."
"I gave you a contract."
"You never explained it!"
"You never read it."
Silence answered her.
Damian suddenly laughed.
It was the laugh of a man with nothing left.
"You won."
Elena shook her head.
"No."
"I simply stopped allowing you to win."
She signed one final document.
"Terminate Project Titan."
Every employee gasped.
Project Titan had been Damian's life's work.
Now it belonged to Elena.
