Chapter 2: The Truth They Buried

Chapter 2: The Truth They Buried

Three days later, the Whitmore Corporation was in chaos.

News outlets around the world reported the unexpected announcement.

The mysterious founder of Hartwell Global had finally revealed herself.

But Elena refused every interview.

She did not want fame.

She wanted answers.

Especially from the people she once called family.

Inside the old Whitmore estate, Victoria sat across from her son Alexander.

His expression was filled with anger and confusion.

“You knew?”

Victoria remained silent.

“You knew Elena owned everything?”

The older woman looked away.

“I thought I could control the situation.”

Alexander stood up.

“You humiliated her in front of hundreds of people.”

His voice broke.

“You treated my wife like a servant.”

Victoria’s eyes narrowed.

“Your wife?”

A painful silence filled the room.

Alexander remembered every moment.

Every time Elena stayed awake helping him fix business problems.

Every time she protected his reputation.

Every time she smiled while sacrificing her own happiness.

And he remembered how easily he allowed his mother to disrespect her.

The worst part was…

Elena never fought back.

Because she loved him.

That realization hurt more than losing the company.

Meanwhile, Elena sat in a quiet apartment overlooking the city.

No luxury.

No mansion.

No cameras.

Just peace.

Noah sat beside her drawing pictures.

“Are you sad?”

Elena looked at him.

“Why do you ask?”

“Because people who leave always look sad.”

She smiled sadly.

“I’m not sad because I left.”

She gently touched his drawing.

“I’m happy because I finally chose myself.”

That night, Alexander arrived at her door.

When Elena opened it, she was surprised.

He looked different.

Not like the powerful businessman everyone admired.

Just a broken man.

“I’m sorry.”

The words came quietly.

Elena stared at him.

“For what?”

“For letting them hurt you.”

A long silence followed.

“You didn’t just let them hurt me, Alexander.”

Her voice remained calm.

“You stood there and watched.”

His eyes filled with regret.

“I was blind.”

“No.”

She shook her head.

“You saw everything. You just didn’t want to believe it.”

Those words destroyed him.

Because they were true.

Alexander looked down.

“Can you forgive me?”

Elena looked toward Noah, then back at him.

“Forgiveness is not the same as going back.”

He nodded slowly.

“I understand.”

For the first time, Alexander accepted that he might lose her forever.

May you like

Not because Elena stopped loving him.

But because she finally learned to love herself.
