CHAPTER 1: THE MIRACLE THAT SHOULDN’T EXIST

The restaurant remained frozen in a silence so heavy it felt unnatural.

The billionaire—Richard Hale—was no longer laughing. His hands gripped the arms of the wheelchair like it had betrayed him. His legs, once lifeless for years, twitched again under the table. A movement so small it shouldn’t have been possible… yet it was real.

The boy stepped back slowly.

He looked no older than ten, dirt smeared across his face, clothes torn like he had walked through half the city to get here. But his eyes… they were calm. Too calm for a child.

Richard’s voice cracked.

“How… how did you do that?”

The boy didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pulled a faded photograph from his pocket and placed it on the table.

It showed a younger Richard standing beside a woman holding a newborn baby.

Richard’s breath stopped.

“That photo… where did you get this?”

The boy finally spoke.

“You remember her,” he said softly. “You forgot me.”

A murmur rippled through the restaurant. Someone dropped a glass. It shattered—but no one moved to clean it.

Richard leaned forward, trembling.

“I don’t understand…”

The boy’s expression didn’t change.

May you like

“You will.”

And then, the lights flickered once… as if the air itself had reacted to his words.
