CHAPTER 4 — The Name Hidden in the Bloodline

The emergency lights turned the ballroom red.

Guests screamed as exits sealed automatically.

The man grabbed the girl’s hand.

“Stay behind me.”

But she didn’t move.

She was staring at the ceiling cameras.

“They’re watching us,” she said calmly.

Too calmly for a child.

The man froze.

“Who taught you that?”

The girl looked up.

And smiled for the first time.

“I did.”

Something shifted in the room.

Even the woman in blue stepped back.

Because the child’s voice… had changed.

Older.

Colder.

Then the girl reached into her dress pocket.

And pulled out a second crest.

Identical.

But cracked in half.

“This is the real one,” she said.

“My mommy said the one you have is fake.”

The man’s breath stopped.

“That’s impossible,” he said.

“There is only one crest.”

The girl tilted her head.

“Then why did your family split it before I was born?”

A loud metallic sound echoed above them.

Something unlocking.

Then the ceiling opened slightly.

A hidden compartment.

And a voice came through the speakers.

Calm.

Familiar.

Female.

“Hello… my son.”

The man went still.

The woman in blue whispered:

“No…”

The girl looked up.

“Hi mommy.”

The man slowly raised his eyes toward the speaker.

And in that moment—

he realized the truth was not about the child.

It was about him.

Because the voice continued:

“You were never meant to know she existed.”

“But now that you do…”

A pause.

Then the final line:

“I’m sorry, but you were never my first son.”

The lights went out.

May you like

And in the darkness—

a second child’s footsteps were heard behind him.
