Chapter 20 – Grace

Several years passed.
Grace was now six years old.
Bright.
Curious.
Fearless.
One evening she asked her mother,
"Why does Uncle Harry always call me his miracle?"
Khloe smiled.
She lifted her daughter onto her lap.
"Because before you were born..."
"...a lot of people fought very hard for you."
Grace frowned thoughtfully.
"Did you fight too?"
Khloe kissed her forehead.
"Every single day."
Grace wrapped her small arms around her mother.
"I'm glad you won."
"So am I."
Outside, the setting sun bathed the garden in warm golden light.
Harrison watched them from the porch, a quiet smile on his face.
Justice had not erased the past.
It never could.
But it had protected the future.
And sometimes...
that was enough.
Grace laughed as she ran through the yard, her joyful voice filling the evening air.
Khloe followed close behind, no longer burdened by fear, but strengthened by everything she had survived.
The marble steps, the blood, the betrayal, and the courtroom battles had become chapters of a life that no longer defined her.
They had simply led her here—
May you like
to peace.
