The silence of the hall was deafening. Every guest will witness the downfall of the bride.

Chapter 2: The Echo of the Truth

The Undeniable Mirror

"Don't you dare touch her again!" Lucas’s voice thundered through the marble foyer, instantly freezing the room. The sharp echo of his dropped keys on the floor still vibrated in the tense air. He stepped past his trembling bride, his gaze locked entirely on the weeping little girl tightly clutched in the maid's protective arms.

Vanessa adjusted her expensive lace veil, her face twisting into an ugly expression of pure annoyance. "Lucas, don't be ridiculous, she's just a servant's brat ruining our wedding piano," she snapped, dismissively waving her manicured hand. "We have hundreds of elite guests waiting in the main ballroom right now. Let the help deal with it."

But Lucas wasn't listening to his bride's desperate excuses anymore; his world had completely stopped spinning. He slowly knelt on the cold floor, his heart hammering violently against his ribs as he stared directly into Molly’s tearful eyes. Those distinct, piercing gray-blue irises were an exact, undeniable mirror of his own reflection.

"Elena, look at me and tell me the absolute truth right now," Lucas whispered, his voice cracking with raw emotion. He looked up at the quiet maid whose hands were still shaking as she shielded the child. "Who is her father? Don't you dare lie to me after what I just saw."

Elena swallowed hard, tears finally spilling over her pale cheeks as she tightened her grip on Molly. She looked at Vanessa, who was glaring at her with a lethal, threatening intensity. The heavy silence stretched across the massive hall, suffocating everyone present as a dark, buried secret threatened to surface.

"Tell him nothing if you want to keep your miserable job!" Vanessa hissed, stepping forward aggressively. Her white gown rustled loudly against the marble, but Lucas instantly stood up, placing his tall frame directly between them. His eyes flashed with a dangerous, protective rage that Vanessa had never witnessed before.

"She is your daughter, Lucas," Elena finally sobbed out, the heavy truth tearing through the room like a sudden lightning strike. "Four years ago, before you went abroad and your family cut off all communication, I found out I was pregnant. I was terrified, alone, and completely helpless."

Chapter 3 : The Gilded Conspiracy

Lucas reeled back as if physically struck, the memories of his past rushing back in a chaotic, overwhelming torrent. "Four years ago... they told me you left the country with someone else," he murmured, his hands shaking as the pieces of the elaborate deception finally fell into place. He turned slowly toward Vanessa.

"She's lying to get your money, Lucas!" Vanessa shouted, her perfect bridal composure completely shattering into frantic desperation. "My family set up this marriage to save your legacy! You're going to trust a pathetic maid over the woman who is about to become your wife? Think about your reputation!"

"You knew, didn't you?" Lucas demanded, his voice dropping to a deadly, venomous whisper that silenced her instantly. "You hired Elena as a maid in this house just to keep her under your thumb. You wanted to humiliate her daily while keeping my own flesh and blood hidden from me."

Elena held Molly closer, whispering soothing words to calm the frightened toddler. "Vanessa’s father threatened to ruin my family if I ever told you the truth, Lucas. I only took this job so Molly could at least be near her father, even if you never knew who she really was."

The sheer cruelty of the arrangement left Lucas completely breathless with disgust. He looked at the woman he was about to marry, seeing only a manipulative monster hidden beneath expensive silk and diamonds. The love he thought he felt for Vanessa evaporated, replaced by a cold, unyielding hatred.

"The wedding is over," Lucas announced clearly, his words echoing off the high ceilings of the estate. He reached down and ripped the white rose boutonniere from his tuxedo, tossing it carelessly onto the floor beside his discarded car keys. "Get out of my house, Vanessa. Take your family and leave."
