Chapter 5: A New Beginning

Chapter 5: A New Beginning
One year later, Lily and I returned to the same ballroom.
This time, there were no flowers.
No orchestra.
No wedding.
Only sunlight pouring through the windows where our lives had changed forever.
Lily squeezed my hand.
"Mom," she asked softly, "are we here to remember something sad?"
I smiled and knelt beside her.
"No."
"We're here to remember that telling the truth is never something to fear."
The venue had removed the old security camera, replacing it with a newer system.
I looked up at it and smiled.
One silent recording had accomplished what decades of lies never could.
It protected the innocent.
It exposed the guilty.
And it gave my daughter the future she deserved.
As we walked out together, I realized that justice hadn't erased our pain.
But it had given us something even more valuable.

Freedom.
