Five black SUVs rolled through the rain less than fifteen minutes later.
They stopped outside the estate gates.
Men and women in dark business attire stepped out—not security guards, but corporate attorneys.
Behind them came an elderly gentleman carrying a leather briefcase.
Adrian walked down the front steps, irritated.
"What is this?"
The elderly man opened the briefcase.
"My name is Charles Whitmore."
He removed several documents.
"I represent Hawthorne Capital Holdings."
Adrian frowned.
"So?"
"So, Mr. Lawson..."
"...this property no longer belongs to you."
Vanessa laughed nervously.
"What kind of joke is this?"
Charles calmly handed Adrian the first page.
"The mansion has always been owned by Hawthorne Capital."
"You merely occupied it under a family trust agreement."
Adrian's smile vanished.
"Impossible."
Charles adjusted his glasses.
"The trust included one non-negotiable condition."
He looked toward Claire.
"As long as Mrs. Claire Lawson remained a beneficiary, you retained occupancy rights."
He paused.
