Chapter 1 – The Truth Hidden in the Ledger

As Daniel guided Hannah toward the library, another wave of pain forced her to stop.
"Call Dr. Ellis," Daniel ordered.
Within seconds, security scattered through the mansion. The celebration was over.
Claire followed them, furious.
"You can't embarrass me like this in front of everyone!"
Daniel finally looked at her.
"No. You embarrassed yourself."
The room fell silent.
Martin quietly handed Daniel a small leather notebook.
"We found this in Aaron Brooks's locker after he died," Martin said. "I kept it because something didn't feel right."
Daniel flipped through the pages.
Every entry documented illegal transfers made through shell companies using the Carver name.
But the signatures weren't his.
They all belonged to executives connected to Whitlock Shipping.
Daniel slowly closed the notebook.
"Someone has been stealing from my organization while framing my family."
Hannah stared at him.
"So Aaron wasn't imagining it."

"No," Daniel replied. "Your husband died because he discovered the truth."
For the first time since arriving at the mansion, Hannah realized Daniel might not have been her enemy after all.
