Chapter 5 – A New Beginning

Three months later, the Carver mansion looked different.
The servants no longer walked with fear.
Martin had become estate director.
Ben laughed as he raced through the gardens with his tutor.
Inside the nursery, Hannah cradled a healthy baby girl.
Daniel stood near the window holding a tiny stuffed rabbit.
"You never told me her name," he said.
Hannah smiled.
"Hope."
He nodded.
"It fits."
The investigation officially cleared Aaron's name.
His debts had been fabricated.
Every dollar taken from Hannah was returned with interest.
Daniel also established a scholarship in Aaron's memory for the children of dockworkers who lost their lives on the waterfront.
As the sun set over Narragansett Bay, Hannah carried Hope outside.
For months she had lived surrounded by lies, grief, and fear.
Now she finally saw something she thought she'd lost forever.
A future.
Aaron had once promised their child would wake up believing the sun lived in her room.
Watching the golden light spill across her daughter's face, Hannah whispered,
"You kept your promise."
Sometimes justice doesn't arrive with revenge.
