The pregnant woman tumbled down the stairs. But the attacker was the one who cried. The fall on the grand staircase "You ruined my life!"

The grand staircase went silent after Elena hit the landing.
Vanessa stood halfway up the stairs, shaking in Mrs. Howard’s arms.
“She attacked me first,” Vanessa sobbed. “I only pushed her away because I was scared.”
Mrs. Howard looked down at Elena with frightened eyes, but she did not move toward her.
Elena lay on the polished wood, one hand pressed against her swollen belly. Her breathing was uneven. Her face was pale.
To anyone watching, she looked broken.
But her fingers were already inside her cardigan pocket.
Vanessa kept crying louder.
“She has been trying to destroy this family since the day she came here,” Vanessa said. “She wants the money. She wants the house. She wants everything.”
Elena slowly pulled out her phone.
Her thumb moved once.
Then again.
A call connected.
Her terrified expression faded.
In its place came something cold.
Controlled.
Prepared.
She covered her mouth and whispered, “Detective Ruiz… it’s already happened. Send everyone here immediately.”
Then she closed her eyes again and returned to playing dead.
Because the fall was real.

ut so was the trap.
