CHAPTER 3: THE PLAN BEHIND THE PUSH

At the hospital, Elena refused to sleep until the doctor confirmed her baby was safe.

The words came like mercy.

“Your baby’s heartbeat is strong.”

Elena finally cried.

Not from fear.

From relief.

Detective Ruiz stood outside the room with Elena’s husband, Adrian Whitmore.

Adrian’s face was gray.

“My sister did this?” he whispered.

Ruiz looked at him carefully.

“Your sister didn’t just push your wife. She has been planning to make Elena look unstable for months.”

Adrian shook his head.

“No. Vanessa said Elena was paranoid. She said Elena wanted to take me away from the family.”

Ruiz handed him a file.

Inside were bank transfers, forged messages, and photos of medication Vanessa had tried to plant in Elena’s bedroom.

Adrian turned the pages with shaking hands.

Then he found the worst one.

A printed message Vanessa had sent to an unknown number.

After the baby is gone, he’ll come back to me.

Adrian stopped breathing.

“She was never protecting me,” he said.

Ruiz’s voice was quiet.

“No. She was punishing Elena for being loved.”
