Chapter 19: Elias

The man lowered the shotgun. "Lilith," he whispered, the name carrying a heavy weight of history. He pulled Chloe inside and locked the heavy deadbolts. His name was Elias. He had been a cleaner for Julian Vance’s syndicate years ago, before Lilith helped him fake his own death and escape the life.
He patched Chloe’s wounds in silence, pouring her a mug of bitter black coffee. When she showed him the micro-SD card, Elias’s face went pale.
"Do you know what this is?" Elias asked, plugging the card into a heavy, encrypted laptop on his kitchen table.
"Proof," Chloe said softly.
"It's Julian's digital ledger," Elias corrected. "It maps every shell company, every bribed judge, every human trafficking route in the western hemisphere. Julian would burn down a city to keep this from seeing the light of day."

"Can you send it to the FBI?"
Elias laughed, a dry, humorless sound. "Julian owns the regional director of the FBI. If we send this to the authorities, we’re just giving them our location. We need to broadcast it. Open source. To every major news outlet, watchdog group, and dark-web server simultaneously. But we can't do it from here. We need a relay."
