"Breach the door!" Julian commanded.

Sparks flew as a cutting torch bit into the heavy steel hinges of the shed door. Chloe raised the shotgun, aiming it at the center of the doorway. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic, trapped bird. She wasn't a soldier. She was just a sixteen-year-old girl who wanted her mother back. But as she looked at the blinking cursor, she realized she held the power to destroy the man who had taken everything from her.

The bottom hinge gave way. The heavy steel door was kicked inward, crashing to the floor. The blinding glare of tactical flashlights flooded the tiny shed, painting Chloe in harsh, strobe-like flashes. Red laser sights danced across her chest, a constellation of violent intent, mirroring the exact moment her mother died.

"Drop it!" a voice screamed.

Chloe didn't blink. She kept the shotgun raised, her finger tightening on the trigger, staring directly into the blinding light.

On the screen behind her, the progress bar ticked forward.
