Chapter 25: A Clash of Worlds

Arthur descended the stairs, his face a mask of barely contained fury at the intrusion. "Vance," he said coldly. "This is wildly inappropriate."

"Business never sleeps, Artie," Vance replied, smirking as he took a seat on a plush velvet sofa. "I came to give you a chance to surrender gracefully. Your board is losing faith in you. They say you've gone soft. And looking around..." Vance gestured dismissively at a stray dog toy on the antique rug, "...I’m inclined to agree. You're a family man now. It’s sweet, really. But it’s bad for the stock price."

Arthur felt the familiar, toxic urge to engage in the warfare—to destroy Vance, to crush his firm, to prove his dominance. But as he opened his mouth, another voice interrupted the tension.
