Chapter 18 - The Shadow Hunt

While Catherine tied up Prosecutor Vance in a maze of corporate injunctions and media scrutiny, Adrian moved through the city’s underbelly like a ghost. He was no longer the public mafia boss; he was a hunter in the dark.
Using the data Marcus had extracted from the surveillance node, they traced Viktor Lupo’s financial operations to an offshore shell bank operating out of a luxury yacht anchored five miles off the coast of Rhode Island.
"That's where he keeps the original Sterling loan document," Marcus said, adjusting a tactical headset inside their hidden safe house. "If we destroy that document, or reveal that the loan was funded by illegal cartel money, the Lupo Family's legal claim to the Sterling estate is completely dead. And Vance won't have a leg to stand on."
"We go tonight," Adrian said, his voice flat and deadly. "We take a private speedboat. No backup. Just you and me, Marcus. Let's finish the Valenti legacy once and for all."

Meanwhile, back at the manor, Catherine was holding a live press conference on the front lawn. She displayed the architectural blueprints of the hidden tunnels, revealing to the world that the federal government was attempting to seize her home not for legal reasons, but to cover up a decades-old smuggling network used by international syndicates.
The public outrage was immediate. The corrupt prosecutor Vance found himself under investigation by the Department of Justice within hours, his power evaporating in the light of truth.
