Chapter 19 - The Battle of the Yacht

The storm was fierce that night, the black waves of the Atlantic tossing the small speedboat as Adrian and Marcus closed in on Viktor Lupo’s luxury yacht.

Wearing black tactical gear, they climbed the anchor chains, slipping onto the dark deck undetected. The sound of thunder masked their movements as they moved through the lower cabins, neutralizing Lupo's guards with silent efficiency.

Adrian kicked open the door to the master stateroom. Viktor Lupo sat behind a mahogany desk, a glass of whiskey in his hand, a heavy steel safe open behind him.

"You're a persistent ghost, Adrian," Lupo said, not looking up. "But you're too late. The transfer of the Sterling deed has already been initialized electronically."

"Cancel it," Adrian said, leveling his weapon at Lupo's chest.

"And if I don't? You'll shoot an old man?"

"I've shot worse for less," Adrian replied, stepping forward.

Suddenly, Marcus collapsed to the floor, a taser dart protruding from his neck. Standing in the doorway was Prosecutor Vance, holding a smoking tactical weapon. "He won't have to shoot you, Viktor. Because I'm going to kill you both and claim it was a cartel shootout."

Vance raised his weapon toward Adrian, but a brilliant flash of light erupted from the yacht’s window.

The glass shattered as a Coast Guard tactical unit, accompanied by Catherine in a federal interceptor boat, surrounded the vessel. Catherine had used her restored political influence to bring the real, uncorrupt federal authorities straight to the target.

Adrian used the distraction to dive across the desk, grabbing Vance's wrist and twisting it until the bone clicked. The weapon clattered to the floor, and Vance fell to his knees, howling in pain.
