Chapter 27: The Counter-Attack

Julian and Alejandro did not go down quietly. Like cornered animals, they lashed out with everything they had.

By noon, Alejandro had used his political connections to freeze Isabella’s domestic bank accounts and file a false kidnapping charge against Renata. Two corrupt detectives from the federal police showed up at Vanguardia Legal with a fraudulent warrant to seize her servers.

But Renata was a master chess player who had anticipated their moves five steps ahead.

When the detectives stepped off the elevator, they were met not by a panicked lawyer, but by a wall of thirty prominent journalists and news cameras Renata had invited to the office for an "exclusive press briefing."

"Officers," Renata announced loudly, the flashbulbs lighting up the lobby. "Are you here to execute the illegal warrant ordered by Senator Vargas to suppress evidence of his cartel money laundering?"

The detectives froze like deer in headlights. On live television, they couldn't afford to be seen acting as a politician's personal thugs. They muttered excuses, turned around, and fled back into the elevator.

Simultaneously, Renata’s legal team filed an emergency injunction in an international court, rendering Alejandro’s local asset freezes completely useless. She had built a fortress of transparency, using the light of public scrutiny to blind the monsters who thrived in the dark.
