Chapter 29: The Sound of Shattering Glass

The arrests happened swiftly. When the evidence was verified by independent international auditors, even Alejandro's corrupt political allies couldn't protect him. To save themselves, they threw him to the wolves.

Federal agents raided the Las Lomas estate, dragging Senator Vargas out in handcuffs as news helicopters circled overhead.

Across the city in Polanco, another raid was taking place. Julian Montes was pulled from the headquarters of Grupo Oro. He shouted threats, claiming he was untouchable, but the agents simply pushed him into the back of a police cruiser. Valeria, the woman with the golden shoes, watched from the sidewalk, her face hidden behind oversized sunglasses, knowing her family's wealth could not save them from the avalanche Renata had triggered.

Renata watched the news coverage on the massive screen in her War Room. Elias stood next to her, holding two glasses of champagne. He handed one to her.

"To justice," Elias said quietly.

Renata looked at the screen. She saw Alejandro’s terrified face. She saw Julian being forced into a squad car, stripped of all his arrogant power. She didn't feel a rush of euphoric joy. She felt something much deeper, much more profound. She felt peace.

She clinked her glass against Elias’s. "To justice."
