The air in Mexico City was warm, the jacaranda trees dropping soft purple petals onto the bustling streets below.

Renata stood in the courtyard of a newly opened, massive facility in the heart of the city. It wasn't just a sanctuary. It was a state-of-the-art training center, legal clinic, and housing compound for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

It was paid for entirely by the seized assets of Hector Del Rio.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket. It was a message from Camila.

I just passed my entrance exams for law school. Thank you, Renata.

Renata smiled, typing a quick reply: You did the hard work. I'll see you in court, Counselor.

She put the phone away and walked up the steps to the second-floor balcony. Elias was leaning against the railing, drinking a cup of coffee. He handed one to her.

"The news says the Senate is still in chaos. Thirty-two arrests this morning alone," Elias noted, a rare smile on his face. "You really burned it all down."

"We cleared the brush, Elias," Renata said, taking a sip of the dark coffee. "Now, we plant something new."

She looked out over the sprawling, chaotic, beautiful horizon of Mexico City.

The woman who had once cowered in a guest room was gone forever. The titan she had become was no longer just a fixture in the city's power structure; she was the foundation of a new one.

There would always be more monsters hiding in the mansions of the city. There would always be men who believed their wealth gave them the right to own the lives of others.

But they no longer owned the night. They no longer operated without fear.
