Chapter 30

Chapter 30: The Light Bringer
Six months later.
The air in Mexico City was warm, the purple jacaranda trees in full bloom, dropping soft petals onto the bustling streets below.
Renata stood in the courtyard of a newly opened facility on the outskirts of the city. It was a sanctuary—a fully funded, highly secure compound for women and children escaping domestic violence, paid for entirely by the seized assets of Grupo Oro and Alejandro Vargas.
Her phone vibrated in her pocket. It was a message from Isabella, along with a photo. Isabella was sitting at a café in Switzerland, the majestic Alps in the background. Leo was eating a pastry, laughing. Isabella looked completely radiant, the dark shadows gone from her eyes.
Thank you for giving us our lives back, the message read.
Renata smiled, typing a quick reply: You saved yourselves. I just held the door open.
She put the phone away and walked up the steps to the second-floor balcony of the sanctuary. She leaned against the railing, looking out over the sprawling, chaotic, beautiful horizon of Mexico City.
The woman who had once been broken over a plate of cold vinaigrette was a memory. The titan she had become was now a permanent fixture in the city’s power structure. Corrupt men in high-rise boardrooms now whispered her name with fear. Women trapped behind locked doors whispered her name with hope.
May you like
Renata took a deep breath of the crisp morning air. Her shoulders were relaxed. Her spirit was unbreakable.
There would always be more monsters hiding in the mansions of the city. But they no longer owned the night. Because Renata was there, and she brought the dawn with her.
